What to do on a Mecklenburg boating holiday?
Nature and wilderness
A boat trip through the Mecklenburg Lake District feels like stepping into a nature film. Along the way, you’ll pass lush forests, quiet bays and bird sanctuaries where you can spot grey herons, cormorants and even golden eagles. The early morning hours are perfect for spotting deer or otters along the shore. Nature lovers can anchor in a protected area and enjoy the complete peace and quiet.
Swimming and relaxing
The waters of the lakes are clear and calm – perfect for a splash whenever the sun shines. Drop anchor, have a picnic on board or just lie down and rock on the water. There are several designated beaches and bathing areas along the shore. Slow, leisurely relaxation is the order of the day here.
Local culture and villages
You can discover charming little towns like Waren, Röbel or Plau am See – each with its own charm and history. Stroll through the old towns, visit the local markets or sample the regional specialities in a family restaurant. In many places you can spend the night in friendly little harbours. The smoked fish is a must – try it!
Historical sights and castles
The area is full of historical monuments. You can moor at romantic castles such as Mirow Castle, or if you sail a little further, the great castle in Schwerin is also worth a visit. These places often offer guided tours and beautiful parks, adding a little fairy-tale atmosphere to your trip.
Active recreation and adventures
If you want to get a little exercise, if you haven’t rented one from us, you can rent a bike at many harbours and explore the lakeside cycle paths. SUP and kayaking are also popular – these can be easily launched from the boat. You can go fishing with a permit, and the lakes are full of perch and pike. You definitely won’t be bored here, even if you like active recreation.
